Load Carrying Capacity of a Hollow Core Slab Panel Made of HPC
Original language description
A temporary bridge was designed with a light-weight slab made of UHPC. The bridge deck is an important part of the main load bearing structure. Its cross section with relatively large holes could be determining for the load bearing capacity of the whole structure in transversal direction. Hence the load bearing capacity of the slab was verified experimentally. For this purpose 3 models of the hollow core slab in scale 1:1 were made. In comparison to the original bridge deck the width of these models was substantially reduced but the thickness of the slab and the geometry of the openings remained unchanged. Four-point and three-point bending tests as well as punching resistance tests were carried out. After the execution of the experiments, the experimental data were processed and evaluated. Consequently models of all the bending experiments were created to analyse them in non-linear FEM software ATENA. Especially the experimental ULS tests and the models for non-linear FEM analysis are described in this paper as well as other details like e.g. the process of manufacturing the specimens.
