Effect of initial imperfections of steel liner plate on the behavior of the liner and anchorage elements in prestressed concrete containments
Original language description
Prestressed concrete containments are often equipped with an internal steel liner that is responsible for the leaktightness of a containment in case of a serious accident. Production and construction of the liner is very demanding due to the slenderness of the liner. Therefore, the steel liner always shows some geometrical imperfections. The paper presents a numerical study focused on the importance of initial imperfections of steel liner plate on the behaviour of the liner and anchorage elements. FEM models of a segment of containment wall were created and loaded by prestress, operation temperature, creep and shrinkage, loss of coolant accident (LOCA) temperature and LOCA pressure. The stress-strain behaviour of the steel liner plate in the course of service life of the structure was observed. Two different types of anchorage were studied – headed studs and L-profiles. According to the results, there is no risk of buckling of the liner or failure of the liner and anchorage elements during operation conditions and LOCA. There is also no substantial difference between the behaviour of the liners connected by headed studs or by L-profiles. However, the initial imperfections of the liner plate were found to be very important for the distribution of stress in the liner and for the crack pattern in concrete.
