    Modeling of hydro-thermal phenomena in porous media at freezing temperatures

  • Original language description

    In this contribution we deal with a derivation of a suitable mathematical model describing coupled transport phenomena in porous media exposed to freezing temperatures and its applicability for engineering problems. The model consists of two nonlinear evolutionary equations derived from the basic conservation equations and the appropriate constitutive relationships. The numerical scheme is based on a semi-implicit time discretization and the spacial discretization is carried out by means of the FEM which leads to the system of nonlinear equations solved by Newton's method in each time step. We use the model for the numerical example of the performance of the wet concrete exposed to freezing temperatures.
