    Implementation of virtual reality in BIM education

    This paper is dealing with topic of implementation VR (virtual reality) into education of building information modeling. Virtual reality is very popular and capable visualization technology. It offers new ways of how to interact with virtual models in virtual environments. In Civil engineering is virtual reality mostly used for all sorts of project visualizations. It can be utilized for architectural visualizations, which helps to present architects’ ideas to the client. Structural engineering data can be visualized to help optimize structural design of the building. Another great example is model error checking and collision detection. This paper aims to present one of possible ways how to utilize virtual reality during university classes involving building information modeling. It shows how to navigate models and extract information. Surely, students will have to use these technologies in their future careers as civil engineers and project managers.
