Lateral torsional buckling of hybrid steel–glass beams
Original language description
The disadvantage of glass is a relatively small tensile strength, which determines the load-bearing capacity of structural elements such as beams, walls, railings. Therefore, an effort is made to improve the behaviour of glass beams by adding another material (steel, wood, carbon fibre) and to create a hybrid structure while preserving the transparency. If glass or hybrid steel glass beams are used as vertical supporting fins for glass facades, the loss of lateral torsional buckling cannot be neglected. This paper deals with lateral torsional buckling of hybrid steel-glass beams consisting of a glass web and steel flanges.
