Original language description
Various sorbents have been used in building materials to capture some dangerous pollutants, mainly metals. In the present study, zeolite was used as a sorbent of cesium ions. The leachates of the non-adsorbed cesium residues from experiments with zeolite containing mixtures were used in Lemna toxicity test. The toxicity test lasted for seven days and it was performed under laboratory test conditions. Number of fronds and chlorophyll content were the measured endpoints. The results indicated that zeolite had a good potential as a sorbent of cesium ions.
