Daylight and luminance of shading obstructions throughout the year
Original language description
Up until now the criterion of daylight factor D (%) has been used for assessments of daylighting in buildings. The criterion is based on the overcast sky model. The new European standard EN 17037 Daylight of buildings introduces daylight evaluation metrics on the working plane in rooms throughout the year for time intervals of one hour or less. The new assessment necessarily comprises other sky models than overcast sky including sunny sky models. The sunny sky radiation influences luminance of shading obstructions in dependence on their orientation to cardinal points. Luminance is key characteristic of shading obstructions which must be taken into consideration for daylight assessments. The paper introduces some fundamental tasks to the complex technical problem.
