The influence of the compression pressure and firing temperature on the mechanical strength of electroporcelain samples

  • Original language description

Pressed ceramics have a great usage in a wide variety of applications, especially when the emphasis is on the strength of the material. The mechanical strength can be already influenced during the production process, for example by rheological properties, the technology of the formation of the ceramic body, the moisture content of the raw mixture, as well as the firing temperature. High voltage insulators are an integral part of the electrical infrastructure in the worldwide and they are made with pressing. For this reason, it is very important to optimize the production process, especially from the economical and environmental point of view. The aim of this study is to find the influence of the compression pressure and firing temperature on the mechanical strength of electroporcelain samples. The elecroporcelain of type C130 is pressed at the compression pressure from 70 MPa to 110 MPa and fired at 1100 °C, 1200 °C, 1300 °C, and 1400 °C. The results show that the firing temperature has higher impact than compression pressure on mechanical strength.
