  • Original language description

Contemporary architecture often works with glass facades, roofs or even glass columns and beams. The problematic part of a glass structure design is usually a connection between the glass pieces or between the glass elements and steel (concrete) substructures. In order to achieve as much transparency as possible, mechanical point fixing systems and adhesive connections were developed. Although being widely used, the design procedure is mostly based on experiments. An embedded laminated connection represents a combination of a mechanical and an adhesive fixing system. The ongoing research is focusing on its characteristics, load-bearing capacity and a mode of failure. A set of real-scale laminated glass panels with four embedded connection was tested in order to reveal the short-term resistance. Samples with different characteristics were used for the experiment. Tested panels are suitable for facades, roofs or banisters.
