Analysis of the mechanical ventilation effect on the smoke layer height evolution in a road tunnel using a fire zone model
Original language description
This paper deals with the analysis of the forced ventilation effect on the smoke layer height evolution in a reinforced concrete road tunnel using a fire zone model. The fire is simulated using the CFAST zone model. A fire scenario is considered for the case of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) burning with a load of wood located in the middle of the tunnel. In the CFAST program, a spatial segmentation of the modelled tunnel is considered concerning the limits of fire zone models. A variant without mechanical ventilation is considered, followed by several variants with mechanical ventilation using jet fans. Subsequently, the resulting smoke layer height graphs are compared. The CFAST zone model is finally evaluated in terms of the relevance of the outputs to the modelled area
