Effect of Thiiodothyronine and Estrogen Administration on bone Strength in Male Rats
Original language description
The aim of the study is to find the effect of medicines on the mechanical properties of rat bones. This project is applied in the collaboration with the First Faculty of Medicine Charles University in Prague. Direct biomechanical testing of bone undoubtedly provides more information about mechanical integrity then exist several methods, e.g. Ultrasound Transmission Velocity (UTV) and Bone Mineral Density (BMD). Three-point bending test is useful for measuring the mechanical properties of bones from small animals. In the bending test the whole bone is loaded in bending until failure.
