    The task to find cross-section parameters has arised during the research of mechanical properties of rat bones and e_ects of medicaments. Since the rat femurs are put through 3-point bending test and maximum bending stress is considered to be measure ofmaterial strength it is necessary to find the section modulus of the bone crosssection where the fracture is located. As a simplification the bone cross-section has been considered as an ellipse yet. The effort to obtain more precise results led in the decision to acquire characteristic values from digital images
