Research on the Flow past an Aircraft Propeller
Original language description
For the measurement of propellers transmitting low power, a workplace was established, allowing for power measurement of the propellers' power characteristics and also for research of the flow fields around them by the PIV method. Interesting results presented in the article were already obtained during the testing measurements. Outputs from both methods are compared, and the possibility of quickly determining propeller efficiency directly from the PIV outputs is signified. Hereafter the differences inthe diagram of flow fields during a typical propeller work regime are shown, and the impact of the shape of the propeller blade end on its properties is illustrated.
