Instrumentation and Tests on Droplet Nucleation in LP Steam Turbines
Original language description
The aim of this paper is to provide contribution to the droplet nucleation problem by means of presenting the results obtained from the new tests on 1000 MW nuclear and 210 MW fossil steam turbines. The turbine tests consisted of prediction of the droplet size spectra and electrostatic charge of droplets in the steam. Measurement was carried out by means of a combined extinction-charge probe.Additional aim of this paper is to provide information concerning the expansion chamber, which can be used in experimental prediction of still unknown initial size and number of the impurities occurring in expanding steam.
