The paper describes results of the research on chip formation process and plastic flow in both conventional and high-speed machining of aluminium alloys. The effect of cutting speed and feed on selected parameters in chip formation was studied. Cutting process simulatins (FEM) and experiments show how the cutting speed and feed effect these parameters.
