Flow Field and Mass Transfer Experimental and Numerical Studies of a Synthetic Impinging Jet

  • Original language description

The basic idea of this work is to joint advantages of impinging jets and zero-net-mass-flux (synthetic) jets: The impinging jets achieve high heat/mass transfer onto exposed walls and the synthetic jets are generated by relatively simple actuators - neither blowers nor fluid supply piping are needed. Moreover, actuating oscillations of the synthetic jets can even enhance the transfer processes on the walls. The present impinging jet is generated using the zero-net-mass-flux actuator, the working fluid is air, and diameter of the emitting orifice D is 8.0 mm. The task has been studied experimentally (smoke phase-locked visualization, hot-wire anemometry and naphthalene sublimation method) and numerically (FLUENT). Based on the heat/mass transfer analogy, the local mass transfer data were converted to the corresponding heat transfer data. The results have been compared with the reference (continuous) impinging jets.

Experimentální a numerické studie proudového pole a přenosu hmoty v syntetizovaném impaktním proudění

  • Czech description

Práce popisuje výsledky numerického a experimentálního výzkumu generování syntetizovaného proudu. Experimenty byly prováděny se vzduchem: vizualizace proudu a měření rychlosti žhaveným drátkem. Následná numerická simulace používala komerčně dostupný program FLUENT. Definice geometrie, okrajových podmínek a látkových vlastností byly při numerické simulaci převzaty z experimentu.
