Original language description
The paper deals with the inscription of long-period gratings (LPGs) into single-mode optical fibers by a CO2 laser. The inscription method as well as the on-line measurement of the transmission spectra of the LPGs during the inscription are described. The relation between the multiple inscription and the transmission spectra of the LPGs is presented. A comparison of the LPG inscription into SMF-28 and SMF-28e optical fibers under the same conditions is made. Also, the influence of the focal distance during the inscription process is presented.
