Computational simulation of compressible flow through a converging-diverging nozzle
Original language description
This paper presents the numerical modeling of axisymmetric flow through a converging-diverging nozzle considering the effects of back pressure on Mach number and pressure distribution. Inviscid and viscous flow fields are simulated. Properties of air with ideal gas behavior are used for density calculations. Inlet stagnation pressure and temperature, inlet pressure and exit pressure are specified. Contours and plots of pressure and Mach number are displayed. Finally, comparisons among CFD results with one-dimensional isentropic compressible flow functions and one-dimensional normal shock functions for an ideal gas with k=1.4 are performed showing excellent agreement.
