Dehydration of gas from underground storage reservoirs by adsorption
Original language description
Natural gas that reaches its destination is not always needed right away, so it is injected into underground storage facilities. During the storage period in the underground the gas is saturated by water. However, before distribution the gas should meetthe composition requirements (the water dew point should be lower than -7°C). To reach such water content the following methods can be used: absorption to triethylenglycol (TEG), multistage expansion and adsorption on solid desiccants. The scope is oriented on adsorption method. Desiccants used in the method are molecular sieves, silica gel or alumina. Processes operate in temperature swing adsorption arrangement where the adsorption step is periodically changed with regeneration step. Energy demand iscalculated on a model situation where of 105 Nm3/h water saturated natural gas is dehydrated. For calculation three different adsorption procedures are applied.
