DAMAGE MONITORING USING FBG SENSORS
Original language description
In the last three year period, the design, verification, and manufacturing process of fatigue crack repairs of the selected critical places in the Czech light combat jet L-159 were completed. The repairs were carried out using carbon or boron/epoxy composite straps and patchesReal-time health monitoring of cracked dog-bone specimens, over-bridged by bonded C/E patch, was successfully verified on the 2024 Al-alloy specimens with an embedded FBG sensor. The capability of monitoring the composite repair patches by a FBG sensor and its use for crack growth and de-bonding monitoring has been successfully demonstrated.
