    Numerical Solution of Flows of Oldroyd-B Fluids

    This paper concerns with numerical simulation of generalized Newtonian and generalized Oldroyd-B fluids. Polymeric fluids are the most studied class of non-Newtonian fluids. Their examples cover molten plastic, engine oils with polymeric additives, paintand many biological fluids, e.g., egg white and blood. Polymeric fluids are characterized by the presence of long chain molecules stretched out by the drag forces of the surrounding fluid. The motion of polymeric fluids is described by the conservationof mass and momentum. The resulting systems of equations for pressure, velocity components and components of the elastic part of the extra stress tensor are numericaly solved using finite volume method in space and Runge-Kutta method for time discretization. Results show velocity field in the geometry of constricted channel in four different flow configurations.
