    Liquid circuit for SPD prototype

  • Original language description

    We have built a liquid circuit for the testing of SPD cooling structures of ALICE detector. Circuit is used for the assessment of temperature performance of light carbon fiber structures prototypes. The cooling is single-phase with the water used as a coolant. Flow is regulated by needle valve and constant temperature of inlet water is maintained by heat exchanger in thermostatic bath. The flow is measured by turbine flow-meter together with calibrated frequency-voltage converter, number of platinum temperature sensors are installed in the circuit measuring the temperature of the water entering and exiting the structures. The structures prototyped can carry up to 8 NTC temperature sensors and the surface temperature distribution is evaluated by thermo-camera. Data from the sensors can be collected by one or two ELMB modules. The measured data are visualized and stored in the project which we have developed in the SCADA software PVSSII.
