Heat Transfer in Jacketed Agitated Vessel Equipped with Multistage Impellers
Original language description
Cooling and heating of agitated vessels are basic operations in many branches of industries, e.g. chemical, pharmaceutical, food or processing, therefore it is important to have a good description of the mixing system behavior. The heat supply or removalis done, usually, through the heat transfer surface in the form of a jacket or an internal coil. The intensity of the heat transfer depends on many parameters, such as the type of agitator, the vessel design, the mixing conditions, and many others. Theknowledge of all these parameters is very important for the design of real biochemical reactors, fermentors, and other chemical or food industry equipment. In this work, the heat transfer via the cylindrical part of the jacket in an agitated vessel has been investigated. Heat transfer coefficients were determined using the transient method based on measuring the temperature dependency of the liquid batch on time. The multistage impeller made of two impellers was used in a cylindrical ves
