Original language description
The paper compares the impact of thermal and thermal-expansionary pretreatments on the quality of wheat straw hydrolyzate. Suspension containing 5 % TS of straw was paralely treated under process temperature 170-200°C and residence time 0-60 min in the laboratory units, liquid and solid hydrolyzate phases were separated and analysed. It was determined that biomass converision to liquid and COD are higher for thermal-expansionary treatment compared to thermal one, while pH and acetic acid concentrationsare lower. The most visible impact of expansion itself was seen at the comparison of sheat straw microstructures. Based on the test, the thermal-expansionary treatment was proclaimed to be more efficient to thermal one.
