Corrosion Properties of Selected Materials for Blades of Water Turbines
Original language description
The blades of water turbines are exposed to enormous load from the aspect of dynamic forces, corrosion, erosion and cavitation. According to the mentioned fact, the specialised producer of turbines has to evaluate the material which is used for production of blades and this evaluation is based on the previous knowledge on the degradation process that can be observed in operation and moreover, this evaluation is also based on simulated wear tests. The work deals with the evaluation of two types of materials which can be used for blades of water turbines. There are stainless steel and graphitic cast irons. In the natural water, the cast irons are attacked by the overall non-uniform corrosion. Corrosion grows with the oxygen content under the influence ofthe water stream, temperature and the presence of free inorganic and organic acids or other aggressive corrosive factors. From an economic and technological point of view, graphitic cast iron is more suitable than steel but it is truth o
