Original language description
*Experimental investigation of homogeneous mixture combustion of natural gas and air mixture in a spark ignition engine at low load engine operation will be presented in the paper. The air dilution and cooled EGR dilution of mixture were compared with the stoichiometric operation. Detailed thermodynamic analysis of the cylinder pressure traces were performed and the combustion rates were evaluated and analyzed. The results show a potential of increase of engine thermal efficiency together with a significant reduction of NOx emissions in raw exhaust gas compared to the homogeneous stoichiometric spark ignition operation.
