This paper investigates CCS050M12CM2 1200V, 50A module that functions as the SiC inverter applied to a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). First the comparison between SiC and conventional IGBT inverter was introduced. It showed that SiC converter has smaller static and switching losses. Then the experimental results of SiC converter designed were presented. The inverter with the conventional design (as IGBT) couldn't function at nominal voltage and high switching frequency due to voltage ringing caused by large parasitic inductances. The improved version of the inverter was designed in order to reduce the parasitic inductances. Finally the inverter could function under the nominal voltage 560 V and under high frequencies 200-500kHz. The voltage overshoot was also reduced by increasing slightly the value of the gate resistance slowing down the switching speed.
