Lignite Drying in a Fan Beater Mill
Original language description
This paper deals with lignite drying in a fan beater mill. This technique of fuel preparation is the most commonly used solution for lignite in conventional power plants. On a test milling system for coal preparation before a boiler, there are carried out the experiments with polish lignite drying. The main component of the system is a fan beater mill. Drying flue gas is obtained from external combustion of natural gas. Selected operation parameters as temperature of drying flue gas, power input of the mill and mass flow of dried coal are changed during the experiments to evaluate their effect on the process. Heat and mass transfer in a fan beater mill, where drying and milling process are taking place simultaneously, is theoretically analysed. A milling system is energetically balanced. The results obtained using the experiments are compared with theoretical solution of this problem. An influence of the mill operation parameters on the properties of the prepared fuel is estimated.
