Trough Air Distributor for a Bubbling Fluidized Bed Boiler with Isobaric Nozzles
Original language description
The paper deals with a technical solution, which was made in order to decrease the bed temperature in an industrial fluidized bed boiler that operates at temperatures 1050-1100°C. The main motivation for that was to allow co-firing of coal and biomass and to reduce emissions of NOx by means of decreasing volumetric thermal load of the bed. This can be done by increasing the bed height that is limited by primary air fan capacity, however. The focus is therefore put on reducing of the pressure drop of the trough air distributor by introducing isobaric air nozzles with adjustable pressure drop. Identification of the current state of the air distributor with wrongly designed nozzles and results of laboratory experiments with adjusting pressure drop control cones for the new air distributor are shown in the paper. As the result, the pressure drop of the distributor was decreased by about 1.7 kPa which allowed increase of the bed height by about 20 cm. This corresponds to a reduction of the volumetric thermal load by approx. 2 MW/m3.
