HIP JOINT CENTER ESTIMATION USING GREATER TROCHANTER METHOD – CORRECTION FOR TROCHANTERIC SOFT TISSUE THICKNESS.
Original language description
Greater trochanter method estimates position of hip joint at 25% of the horizontal distance between the markers placed over palpable greater trochanters. Position of skin markers is influenced by the amount of lean and fat tissue covering the greater trochanter. Current regressive equations do not account for the variable soft tissue thickness over the greater trochanter. This study is intended to estimate how the trochanteric soft tissue thickness affects accuracy of the greater trochanter method and suggest a possible correction in regressive equations.
