    Efficiency Mapping of a 100 kW PMSM for Traction Applications

  • Original language description

    This paper presents a simple method for calculating the efficiency map of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) for traction applications. The calculation uses motor nameplate data only. This is useful in e.g. design phase of an electric vehicle where the efficiency map is required to estimate the range based on a given driving cycle. The method is experimentally validated with a 100kW, 191 Nm, 5000 min-1 PMSM. The calculation and experimental results are found in sufficient agreement.
