Mean Stress Effect Methods Reevaluated
Original language description
The paper deals with the evaluation of methods used for the solution of mean stress effect in the fatigue life prediction. Two basic approaches are described here. MSE in finite life is studied for 16 types of materials with commonly used methods (Goodman, Gerber) and with some extended models (Bergmann, Kwofie, SWT, Walker). The most universal method throughout all data items is provided by SWT, but even better accuracy could be achieved with some other extended models.
