    Deformations Modeling of Swollen Gels

  • Original language description

    The polymeric hydrogel was modelled by finite element method. The model is developed for the calculation of the deformation characteristic, it enables to solving the swelling process and the additional mechanical loading process. It based on changes of Gibbs free energy. The Flory-Huggins formulation was used to describe the solvent mixing with a Gauss hydrogel network. The change of Gibbs free energy in deformation of the swollen grid is described by a model similar to the Gent model of hyper elasticity. The complete FEM model is programmed in the MATLAB. The open code allows monitor the progress of the calculation and implement any non-standard descriptions of Gips energy. The model was developer to determine the behavior of porous gel structures that are of great importance in biology.
