Within the project related to active vibration suppression of planar structures using distributed network of piezoelectric patches, suitable models usable for simulations of control design had to be created. Presented paper describes development of such models using ANSYS software and their transformation into state-space form. This work focuses on description of problems, which appeared during the modelling process, and aims to offer good counsel in similar tasks.
