The paper deals with combustion process in a gas spark-ignited ICE equipped with scavenged pre-chamber. The analysis is based mainly on 3-D CFD simulation data (using LES approach) when multiple consecutive cycles were calculated to estimate CCV effects. Both detailed 3-D CFD data and integral properties (e.g., ROHR) are shown. Different variants of pre-chamber design are compared to select the best candidates for testing on a real engine. This concerns different pre-chamber sizes, different numbers/sizes/configurations of connecting channels between pre-chamber and main cylinder.
