    Metallographic Analysis of Components for Decentralized Micro-Power Systems Produced by Additive Manufacturing

    Additive manufacturing is offered as an appropriate technology for characteristic parts used in power industry. The paper is focused to 3D printing as a method for rapid development of low-cost and low-parameters turboexpanders for decentralized micro-power systems. Due to a specific condition, such as presumed fluid type, temperature, pressure, rotor speed etc., stainless steel 316L was chosen as a material for producing turboexpander bodies, and related technology DMLS was used. Geometry conforming to 3D print technology and appropriate printing position were designed. To achieve good quality of printed parts, printing parameters for strategy chessboard are crucial. Metallographic analysis was used to analyze and evaluate the structure and possible defects especially in thin-walled areas. Recommendations for design and print were made.
