Simulation of Interaction of the Airflow with Vocal Folds Vibration Considering the Vocal Folds Contact
Original language description
This paper focuses on the problem of voice production, where the main attention is to the modelling of the glottis closure. The mathematical model consists of the incompressible flow model in the time dependent domain described with the aid of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations written in the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian form. This model is coupled with a simplified structural model describing the vocal fold vibration by dynamic system with of two degrees of freedom. The gap closure is modelled with a combination of inlet boundary conditions, a fictitious fluid approach and the Hertz impact forces. Numerical method is based on the finite element method, where in order to overcome the instability caused by the dominating convection for high Reynolds numbers, stabilization procedures are applied and numerically analyzed on a simplified problem. Numerical results are presented.
