Experimental evaluation of liposomes biomechanics
Original language description
The aim of our study is to create liposomes using a microfluidic device and use them as a mechanical reference for force probe testing methods such as AFM or nanoindentation. Two types of liposomes were produced using a custom microfluidic device. The first type is simple unilamellar phospholipid vesicles while the second type contains HA (hyaluronic acid) mimicking the role of cytoplasm. Mathematical model was developed to determine the mechanical properties of individual constituents from AFM and nanoindentation force curves, i.e. the area compression module of lipid bilayer and the elasticity modulus of cytoplasm.
