    Axial compressor design using KOBRA airfoils

  • Original language description

    The paper is focused on the design and analysis of the axial compressor of the secondary gas-cooled nuclear power plant for the KOBRA project. Compressor blade tip Mach number equals to 0.8 and thus the blade works in the transonic flow field. Compressor working fluid is high pressure nitrogen with 7 MPa inlet pressure and overall pressure ratio equal to 3. The compressor has 5 stages. The set of transonic compressor airfoils were optimised during previous work at the KOBRA project. So this airfoil set is used for compressor blade design. Compressor performance is analysed by means of the in-house CFD developed at the Department of Technical Mathematics of the Czech Technical University in Prague. Results of the CFD analysis are presented and compared with the previous version of the axial compressor for the KOBRA project.
