Work supported by the internal grant of the Czech Technical University in Prague was devoted to calibration of a Nikon FC-E8 fish eye lens. We use this lens in many applications including realizations of non-central cameras. Non-central cameras do not have a single center of projection through which would all light rays pass, as opposite to classical central cameras. Nevertheless, non-central cameras are frequently used and theory of their image formation is a recent field in computer vision. It has been shown that even an equivalent to epipolar geometry exists for a certain class of non-central cameras and that 3D reconstruction from non-central images is possible.
