On Semantic Annotation Graphs
Original language description
This report consists of three main parts. First part gives an overview of the state of the art in discipline known as Knowledge Management describing concepts such as ontology, semantic annotation, and semantic-based search. It provides background for the second part, which describes author\'s own experiments and preliminary research results. In the third part we propose a generic methodology and framework for annotating content. We are using ontologies as the controlled vocabulary for annotations. Conceptual Graphs (CGs)1 are used as the intermediate annotation language that stands between natural languages and computer-oriented semantic mark-up formalisms such as RDF. We build on our previous work which established the applicability of CGs as a representation of narrative structures. We introduce DNAT, a content creation and annotation tool providing a prototype implementation of the methodology proposed for semantic annotations.
