Modeling of Acoustic Waveguides Using Electro-Acoustic Analogy: Application to the Human Ear Canal
Original language description
A model of the human ear canal is important for a number of applications (electroacoustics, audiology { e.g. for studying the noise induced hearing loss, etc.). There are many ways to design this model { for example the finite elements method. Another way is using the method of electro-acoustic analogy for the modeling of the human ear canal as a waveguide with non-uniform cross-section. In this paper, a method for the modeling of the both main families of waveguides, the Salmon's and the Bessel's, is presented. The waveguides are described by chain matrices which are suitable for computer modeling. The procedure of obtaining the chain matrix, which is common for both families, and its application to the human ear canal modeling are presented. A modelof the human ear canal from its geometrical shape is derived, and modeled transfer function is compared with the measured one.
