Omnidirectional Image-based Rendering
Original language description
The paper summarizes omnidirectional image-based rendering techniques giving a user a complete freedom of motion in a virtual reality. Image-based representation provides a photorealistic scene representation. We discuss two VR scenarios, the ``window into reality'' and the ``door of perception''. We overview the complete process from the acquisition to the rendering focusing on the advantages of omnidirectional images for the user experience. We also discuss the acquisition setups and practical issuessuch as the equipment used for real setups, presented for example at the CeBit 2005 fair.
