City Modeling from Omnidirectional Video
Original language description
Three-dimensional models of cities are useful in a variety of applications such as urban planning, virtual reality, and architecture and monument preservation. We present a step towards a 3D reconstruction system for city modeling from omnidirectional video sequences using structure from motion together with stereo constraints. Our contribution lies in adapting a real-time city modeling framework using a single perspective camera into a framework using two omnidirectional cameras with 180 degrees fieldof view in order to solve the problems caused by the limited field of view and to prevent the undesirable loss of the scale of the reconstruction. Performance of the system is demonstrated on a sequence of 870 images acquired while driving in a city.
