Vertically Meander-folded, Shorted-patch Antennas
Original language description
In this study, a novel miniaturized microstrip patch antenna based on meander-folded, shorted-patch (SP) structure is introduced. The technique enables a decrease of the original quarter-wavelength patch length approximately by the factor 1/N, where N isthe number of the vertically placed patch plates above the ground plane. The antenna operational principle is explained with the help of E-field distribution and can be interpreted as SP with vertically meander-folded cavity. Further modification of thetop patch plate to ensure symmetrical radiation pattern is proposed.
