Novel miniaturized microstrip patch antenna based on meander-folded, shorted-patch (SP) structure is introduced. The technique enables a decrease of the original quarter-wavelength patch length approximately by the factor 1/N, where N is the number of the vertically placed patch plates above the ground plane.
