Projects and development activities within organizations usually follow some well-known methodology for software development processes. Some of them are oriented only to design and creation of products, some of them also includes management issues like project preparation, acquirer/supplier relationships, quality issues or other aspects. The construction of high-quality software products requires sophisticated approaches which define the sequence of steps in a software (systems) development process. Onthe other hand, many methodologies lacks of precise formal description and it is not easy to understand projects instantiated in one methodology in the context of another approach. This is the place where knowledge-based representation of software development processes could be a meeting point for (at least partial) mapping or capturing of relationships between different methodologies, like V-Modell XT and others.
