Different Knowledge Representations of Software Development Methodologies used for V-Modell XT
Original language description
Development activities within organizations usually follow well-known methodology for software development processes by defining the sequence of steps in particular development activity. Many methodologies lack the precise formal description and it is not easy to understand projects already instantiated in one methodology in the context of another approach. Knowledge-based representation of software development processes could be a meeting point for (at least partial) mapping or capturing of relationships between different methodologies. Some effort has been done towards knowledge representation of methodologies from the different perspectives. Every one of them starts from the analysis of software engineering methods, domain, and experiences, but later on approaches usually follow one of two slightly different schemes. In first case, they stay on analytical level and try to make representation for direct mapping between methodologies in order to achieve better interoperability.
