Original language description
G-Learn is an e-learning environment designed to support the teaching of Urban Geography to 11 - 14 year-old students. G-Learn provides lesson support materials which are centred around planning for real city building activity. The system promotes activelearning, situating students in the role of urban planners. The reasoning engine behind the program provides students with feedback on their city designs, allowing them to modify their cities. G-Learn provides two modes of interaction; computer-based learning and blended learning. Online learning involves students using the 'drag and drop' city build mode. Blended learning allows the less ICT resourced Geography departments to use a physical game board where city items (counters) are placed on the board and captured by a camera and imported into the system.
