Simulation of the MOEMS - based Torsion Micromirror Switch for Optical Interconnection Networks
Original language description
The Optical Burst Switched (OBS) networks have received much attention in the few last years. Optical burst switching is a new emerging and highly promising technique for transmitting bursts of the traffic through an optical transport network by reserving resources through the network for each burst separately. In the paper, the design and simulation of the Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical System (MOEMS)-based torsion micromirror optical switch suitable for the OBS networks is presented. The design of theswitch is based on its multiphysics model. The simulation results provide detailed information about behavior of the proposed optical switch, and thus the optimization can be realized before fabrication.
